London's expensive. Europe's closer than you think.
I kept running into the same thing. An artist I wanted to see would sell out in London, or the ticket alone would cost more than a flight somewhere. And the whole time, they were playing the exact same tour in Warsaw, in Lisbon, in Berlin, cheaper, in cities I'd been meaning to visit anyway.
Ticket sites show you tickets. Flight sites show you flights. Nothing put the two together and told you the obvious thing: seeing the show somewhere else is often the cheaper, better option. So I started doing it myself, finding the trips where it works, checking the numbers, and putting the best ones in one place each week.
What Detour does.
Every trip on Detour is hand-picked. We find the shows where the ticket, the flight and a night away, combined, costs less than seeing the same artist at home. Then we check the numbers, and put the best ones here.

One number: ticket, flight, one night. That's what you're actually spending, and what we compare to seeing them at home.
Face-value tickets only.
We link to the official ticket, not resale at double the price. If the face-value ticket isn't available, the trip doesn't go in.
Hand-picked, not generated.
Every trip here was checked by a real person. We look for genuine savings, not algorithmic noise. If the numbers work, it goes in.
Live music is worth travelling for. The best way to see a show often isn't in your own city. And a concert is one of the best reasons there is to spend a weekend somewhere you've never been. That's the whole idea.
How we pick.
A trip only makes the list if the full cost works: the ticket, the flight and one night away, added together, comes to less than a standard ticket to the same show at home. Not resale price. Not premium seats. A standard ticket, at home.
If the numbers don't work, the trip doesn't go up. No exceptions.
Who's behind it.
Detour is built and run by one person. That's me, [NAME], [a student in Liverpool / based in the UK]. It started as the thing I wanted to read, a list of concerts worth travelling to, with the numbers to back it up. It turned into something I think a lot of people need.
